Case Study 3

Taking on new projects and roles

“I found myself in the ‘fortunate’ position of been offered 2 new roles, one with my existing Company which took me down a new career path towards a L&D role and the other an external position with a new employer which was  building on my current experience but on a wider scale, the decision that I agonised over is to which role should I take?

I had for sometime wanted to widen my experience especially into an EMEA role and to broaden my skill set beyond the traditional HR manager, with 10 years experience it was time to think about choosing a path that would enable me to achieve this. My current employer had offered me a new role which would put L&D on the map for EMEA, it was an opportunity to carve out a strategy and work with USA Corporate in delivering this. The other option was to close  the door on this and move to know what I knew best as an HR manager but with a new employer.

I needed some independent advice, somebody who was not directly involved but who could listen and provide coaching.  Caroline at Accelerating Change, was the perfect person to contact and to work this through with.

Caroline enabled me to get to my own decision through coaching and challenging my opinions, she made me really think about what I wanted to do and be clear about my own expectations. Through this dialogue I felt more confident and reassured about making the right decision for both my career and family. The outcome of this was that I was better prepared for my inevitable move and be in a stronger position to create the new role I wanted with my current employer as the L&D Manager, EMEA.

Caroline was a great help to me and would have no hesitation in recommending her to other clients.
